  He diagnosed the non-functioning water pump on my Kenmore washing machine, but told me the part would cost $450, so it wouldn't be worth my while to fix it. After he left I took the machine apart myself, removed the water pump, and called around for parts.
  Turns out the pump is readily available to buy - for $167 + tax - - - not $450. Had I known that I would have just had him repair it. It seems they'd rather make an $85, 20 minute service call than actually get down into the work. I think that's the state of customer service on the whole.
